a brilliant scientist by the name of Doctor Watson created the Omniscient Memory and Neural Interference System, commonly referred to as the OMNIsys, a machine which allows a user to enter into the realm of one’s inner psyche known as the ID Well, a plane which reflects the subconscious mind of its subject.Investigators of the organization Oculus Dei enter the Well by adopting an Alter Ego, unraveling complex mysteries through directly interacting with a subject’s psyche.While the root cause of the ID Well phenomenon isn’t widely understood, one thing is certain: the human mind – is not a locked box.Memory – is more absolute than it seems.

you are a member of Oculus Dei, an investigator who adopts an Alter Ego in order to solve cases within the Well.Whether you’ve worked the job for several years by this point or you've just finished mandatory training, you’ve been summoned to the organization’s headquarters on the remote, man-made island of Recall in order to work directly beneath Director Holmes and the top brass within the organization on a complicated case.Your assignment is simple: unmask the elusive serial killer known as Irene Adler whose true identity is yet to be determined. A killer who utilizes the Well to commit their crimes, their modus operandi is strikingly similar to a series of murders committed in the past…

Founded in 197X, the Oculus Dei Detective Agency has roots in the United States of America, home of a certain private investigator by the name of S— H— and his associate, psychologist J. Watson.During a particular case, Watson discovered Cognition Particles emitted from the culprit of the crime, and would go on to develop the OMNISys, allowing investigators like S— H— access to the ID Well in an unprecedented means of case solving.Decades later, Oculus Dei has spread its roots on nearly every continent on the globe, continuing its work as a detective agency which strives to investigate the inner workings of the human psyche under Director Holmes and the current Doctor Watson.

When designing an Alter Ego, please keep in mind the following:

*While it is possible for Alter Egos to appear similar to another person, they should, overall resemble the real-world investigator similar to a magical girl transformation (the same person in essence with a few embellishments).

Additionally, at least one aspect of the Alter Ego must differ from the real-world counterpart whether that be hair/eye color, clothing, etc. Clothing can vary and does not have to adhere to the time period of the setting. Ideally, the Alter Ego's attire should align with the detective motif, but you may consider this a loose suggestion.Finally, the Alter Ego does not have to resemble or reference its namesake.

57 years ago, the psychologist J. Watson discovered the presence of Cognition Particles surrounding individuals experiencing emotional distress and murderous intent. What followed was the development of the OMNISys and, alongside it, the Mnemosyne, a handheld device capable of detecting and collecting Cognition Particles.These particles are a necessary component in constructing ID Wells and eliminate the need for subjects to be physically present in order to investigate their Wells.In present day, Oculus Dei's Field Team Department visits crime scenes and persons of interest in order to collect Cognition Particles which can then be remotely uploaded to the OMNISys' database directly from the Mnemosyne.

Aptitude to become an investigator is dependent on the presence of an Ideal, often referred to as a driving force, a morbid fixation, or a fatal flaw - the core essence of the self. While distinct from Cognition Particles, modern Mnemosyne technology is capable of detecting the presence of the Ideal, and such tech is utilized when determining an individual's potential to become an investigator.The Ideal is not fully understood, but appears to be inherent to all investigators. Without it, an individual is unable to utilize the OMNISys, and cannot maintain an Alter Ego within the Well.While some investigators can name their Ideal, others cannot. Regardless, its presence is detectable with the Mnemosyne. Additionally, the presence of the Ideal indicates the potential for a Well to be constructed regardless of the subject's feelings of turmoil or strong murderous intent - in other words, all investigators within Oculus Dei are understood to possess their own ID Wells.Investigation and the construction of an active employee's Well is strictly prohibited barring specific circumstances. Previous subjects of investigation who were later inducted into the organization have their Wells archived and under strict lock and key.

The Omniscient Memory and Neural Interference System, developed by Doctor Watson, is a machine which allows its user to enter the ID Well.Comprised of a cockpit where investigators sit and a console which can initiate entry into the ID Well, the OMNISys is a fixed device that is typically housed in an underground room within Oculus Dei offices, accessible only to investigators with the proper clearance.While investigators are capable of entering the Well through the OMNISys' console, ejection of the investigator must be handled by a third party in the real world. Hence, Oculus Dei employs its Wellside Department, headed by the current Doctor Watson, which oversees all investigators as a support unit as they traverse the Well.The Wellside is also in charge of analyzing all evidence gathered by investigators, and their findings are then passed along to the Field Team who handles all of the logistics regarding case-solving outside of the Well.The pipeline typically goes as follows:

The manifestation of the subconscious, the realm of the inner psyche - that is the ID Well.While referred to as if it is singular, the Well manifests differently for every person, as each individual has a unique way of viewing the world. That said, there are potentially as many Wells as there are human beings.Certain Wells are grounded in reality such as:

Changes within the Well are reflective of an individual's current state of mind, and a Well may update even without the collection of fresh Cognition Particles, however, while contents of a Well might change (ie: new individuals may appear or disappear within a particular Well), the overall setting remains consistent.Further information regarding the ID Well and creating a Well for player-run cases will be distributed following the application period.

ARCHETYPE is used to determine a character's strengths and weaknesses, similar to classes in an RPG. Each Archetype has a set buff (additional stat points) and debuff (negative stat points) according to its strengths and weaknesses as listed below.There is no set limit to the number of characters that we are accepting of a particular archetype nor does the Archetype have to match the Alter Ego's source material, so please pick the one that best suits your OC! Archetype may also be changed later.
